Tuesday 4th July from 4.00pm to dusk

Shoreditch Gardens

136 Kingsland Road, London E2 8EA

The post community networking event of the year in a beautiful secluded garden

This year’s fete promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

With last year’s event so popular we have have moved to a larger venue.

You can expect:

  1. more hospitality with six drinks tents serving cold beer, wine, champagne, Pimms, G+Ts, vodka shots and premium non-alcoholic beer

  2. delicious treats with three street food vans courtesy of Kerb serving premium hot dogs, wood-fired pizza and Greek wraps

  3. more games with a table tennis tournament, a coconut shy with a twist, jenga and a giant inflatable darts board

  4. more photo opportunities in the VW Microbus or on the giant deckchair

  5. to win prizes either on the wheel of fortune or in the raffle including a magnum of Lanson champagne or Nye Timber, a crate of champagne or a hamper… and now a top prize of an HP C640 G1 ChromeBook Enterprise Laptop. One of you has got to win this and take it home. The raffle is at 7.30pm

  6. and with technologists on hand to walk you through the most complex workflow or show you the latest technology including first sight in the UK of the new Sony BVM-HX3110 promising faster pixel response, a wider viewing angle and higher peak luminance as well as being able top see the latest Eizo monitors.

But most of all the Televisual Village Fete is about YOU in great numbers. At the time of writing there are over 500 people registered to come to the gardens from post and VFX houses, post supers and VFX, from the streamers and the very brightest technologists serving the community.

The Great British Summer A shower is still just about possible, but now increasingly unlikely with the rain passing in the morning and early afternoon. Met Weather tells me with some smashing old-school graphics. We have a vast marquee that can hold 250+ people and 11 large sturdy gazebos that combined can shelter everyone of you for five minutes should the need arise.

I’d also like to give a special mention to Guy and the team at AKA Design. Not only is Guy a lovely man who we wish well for his impending nuptials (does anyone write that word anymore?) but I don’t know how I could have pulled this mini-Glastonbury together without his support.

A grand new venue for 2023, set within the grounds of the Museum of the Home, within the 18th-century Grade I-listed former almshouses

Getting to Shoreditch Gardens, 136 Kingsland Road, London E2 8EA

Shoreditch Gardens is next to (part of) the Museum of the Home and the entrance gate is on Kingsland Road. Hoxton overground is 100 yards around the corner, it’s ten-minutes walk from Liverpool Street train and tube station and multiple bus routes stop within a minute’s walk or you can cycle.

Arthur and the VW will be there for you

Raffle tent & PrizeS

A big thank-you to Niels at Adobe for being the headline sponsor and to Jennie from the Dot Group and Shiten from Proline by Exacta for donating such generous prizes including one of three free annual subscriptions to Creative Cloud, a hamper, a crate of champagne or one of three magnums.

the wheel of fortune

Seagate’s Andy is spinning the disc from which you have a chance to win from a multiple of prizes including very flash mobile phone chargers, bottles of Prosecco, umbrellas and a whole host of goodies. We ask that you gamble responsibly and if you feel that it is getting out of hand…

How to show your support

This year we will be holding a raffle to support two charities:

The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields and The Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields offers a range of specialist services aimed at supporting people through the physical and psychological challenges of sleeping rough, while working with them to move off the streets and towards their futures.

I hope that I don’t need to tell you how urgent humanitarian support is for the people of Ukraine where the cost of war is not only found on the battlefield. The Disaster Emergency Committee has been providing significant support and the need for more support grows ever greater.

The village fete is free to attend and I gently encourage you to click on one of the QR codes on the flyer you’ll be given when you come in or come to the raffle tent. Alternatively, you can donate to either of the charities by clicking on one of logos alongside. We will be allocating one raffle ticket for each £5 donated, so please be sure to leave your name with your donation..

The lucky raffle winners will be announced at 7.30pm within a very short presentation. The winners will be drawn by way of a random number generator.

    Introducing AJA ColorBox

As demand for 4K/UltraHD grows, and virtual sets introduce custom configurations, productions are working harder than ever to achieve consistent, colour-accurate looks from lens through to post. As Digital Image Technician (DIT) Jamie Metzger put it, “Staying on top of monitoring and data technology is a job in and of itself, but it’s important to find the time to discover tools that can make the job easier.”

One tool that’s helping Metzger and other production professionals keep pace with evolving colour management strategies on-set is AJA ColorBox. The portable, high-performance converter for colour-managed workflows supports low latency, in-line HDR/SDR algorithmic, and LUT colour transforms for live production, live event, in-studio, and on-set applications. Available since fall 2022, ColorBox is proving itself invaluable across a diverse range of environments as productions navigate new technology and workflows.

  • The Seagate Advantage for Media & Entertainment: Storage Solutions from Camera to Cloud

With the proliferation of streaming services, growing media viewership and content resolution growth across different devices, you need to constantly grow your content library to be relevant to demanding customers. Whether you are performing a complex post-production editing on on-prem infrastructure or distributing completed content through streaming/linear delivery, cost-effectiveness and unrestricted movement of data are critical.

However, the modern M&E industry is more often facing data management & cost challenges. With public cloud services you can face significant egress and API fees moving content from your content repositories to third party vendors and on-premises data centers and storage systems are limited by scalability and flexibility. This limits your opportunities to innovate and produce content and experiences to answer customer growing needs. On top of that, if your content gets damaged, stolen or is unavailable in any part of the supply chain – launches could be delayed, reputation is lost, and budgets won’t be met. Finally, once production is done, your tape and film archives might have constrained accessibility (e.g., for cataloguing, searching, sorting) and cause additional business overheard (e.g., equipment maintenance, vendor relationships, warehouse maintenance) … That’s is why a solid mass data storage infrastructure is important.

    Democratizing Hyperscale Storage Architecture

Vertically integrated mass-capacity storage architectures that deliver extended efficiencies are imperative in today’s data economy and M&E industry is not an exception.
Seagate’s product range with more than 40-year storage heritage has culminated in a core technology stack that brings hyperscale cost and end to end architectural efficiencies to the enterprise across software, silicon, system, and device innovations. Accelerate adoption of these leading technologies as quickly as they’re available to give your business a competitive edge. Seagate Storage solutions were crafted to address the data management challenges from camera to cloud.

Now, you can freely access your in- and post-production media from any environment and achieve long term cost predictability, On Prem or Lyve Cloud content repositories with CAPEX or OPEX with no egress and API fees. Seagate offers block and object storage with superior Value. Seagate Storage Products help you to store protect and transfer valuable media assets across any environment (on-prem and cloud) wherever it is needed. Vertical integration with Seagate offers cost advantages and can help you reduce significant TCO when compared to solutions that aggregating other various storage providers. Furthermore, managed migration by Lyve Cloud supports hassle free onboarding of the data to cloud, provides easier and faster content retrieval, and enables high monetization potential through digitization of media that was stored on film.

Finally with Seagate there is no compromise on performance to meet your goals - reduce costs while keeping your media in a highly available (99.9% availability), super durable (> 11 9s), reliable and truly confidence inspiring combination of storage solutions.

  • Introducing the Sony BVM-HX3110
30.5-inch 4K TRIMASTER HX™ Professional Master Monitor at the Televisual Village Fete.

This is the first time the new unit has been seen in the UK ahead of shipping later this year.

Higher peak luminance and greater contrast ratio

As a 4K HDR master monitor, the BVM-HX3110 is designed for unparalleled colour fidelity. *Peak luminance has been increased to 4000 cd/m² while the black colour stays black. Colourists will see subtle details, delicate highlights and rich colours, even in areas of the image where details were previously lost, with deep blacks and smooth highlight roll-off.

    Faster pixel response

Activated by an optional licence, the BVM-HX3110’s high-speed pixel response is perfect for live sports and music productions. Pan and tilt movements are displayed with less motion blur, while scrolling tickers are easier to read and check. The combination of rapid video response and high brightness make this display far clearer than existing OLED competitors.

    Even wider viewing angles

Undertake monitoring work with more people, thanks to a wider viewing angle. Reviewing our optical display materials has allowed us to expand the viewing angle of our newest master monitor to 45°, without affecting the rich contrast ratio or high colour fidelity.

    Find out more

    pro.sony/en_GB/products/broadcastpromonitors/bvm-hx3110

*This peak luminance value is typical at D65 (x, y = 0.3127, 0.329) and is not guaranteed. Auto brightness limiter may work under some conditions.
